Decision on the structure and content of this product will be based on the research done by partners during the preparation stage of this proposal, and the experience they have in the field of education in general and special education in particular. The Assessment Scale will consist of two main components: - a Screening tool for identification of the level of development of pupils’ study skills at the end of the 1st grade - to be used by the class teachers with the whole class to find out which of the pupils have deficits in development of the skills that are prerequisite for effective learning. - a set of individual tests to measure the deficits in pupils’ skills - to be applied with pupils who have shown lower results on the screening.
This output is innovative because there is simply no existing equivalent. There are some existing assessment tools but they are intended for use by specialists and many of them require special training and licensing - This Assessment Scale will enable teachers to identify pupils with learning difficulties very early and to address the problem IMPACT: - Results will be a good base for establishing collaboration with SEN staff, external specialists and parents, and for developing the Individual educational plan for pupils in need; - Implementation of the tool will support the improvement of the professional skills of primary school teachers and thus will improve the support for pupils with learning disorders, - Will increase the capacity of the relevant stakeholders to identify and support the needs and progress of the pupils with learning difficulties.
Primary school teachers; - SEN teachers, speech therapists, school psychologists; - 1st grade pupils.
The Assessment Scale can be used and implemented by any primary school teacher regardless of their location and pedagogical experience; - The tool will be translated in 7 language and will remain available as an open educational resource via the project FB page and partners’ websites after the completion of the project - The tool will be included in presentations/seminars/trainings partners regularly organise locally.”
